Chery has expanded its UK vehicle warranty, extending seven-year cover to a wider range of major components as the Chinese carmaker marks its first year in the British market.

The enhanced warranty takes effect immediately across all new Chery models and, importantly, will also be applied retrospectively to every Chery vehicle already sold in the UK. Existing owners do not need to take any action, with the revised terms being applied automatically.

Chery says the changes have been introduced following feedback from customers and its rapidly expanding UK retailer network, with the aim of providing greater reassurance and reducing potential long-term ownership costs.

More components gain seven-year protection

A substantial number of components previously covered for three years or 40,000 miles will now be protected for seven years or 100,000 miles.

These include the air-conditioning compressor, alternator, brake calipers, catalytic converter, infotainment unit, exhaust system, fuel injectors, fuel pump, oil pump, shock absorbers, starter motor, track rod ends, water pump, wheel bearings and electric window regulators.

Warranty protection for bushes and rubber components has also been extended from three years/40,000 miles to seven years/60,000 miles.

Ball joints receive the same improvement, with their cover increasing from three years/40,000 miles to seven years/60,000 miles.

The revised terms apply to both private and business customers.

Existing Chery owners included

One of the most significant elements of the announcement is Chery’s decision to backdate the enhanced warranty.

Rather than limiting the additional protection to newly registered vehicles, every Chery sold in the UK since the brand entered the market will benefit from the revised cover.

Farrel Hsu, Managing Director of CHERY UK, said: “Over the past year, we have established a solid foundation in the UK, from our compelling range of TIGGO SUVs to our comprehensive retailer network.

“As we continue to grow and invest in the UK, our priority remains the same: making safe, advanced, efficient vehicles more accessible to modern families, and offering an outstanding ownership experience.

“The enhancements we’ve made to our vehicle warranty are an integral part of that, and reflect our commitment to always putting our customers first.”

Chery continues rapid UK expansion

The warranty changes arrive during a period of significant growth for Chery in Britain.

Having entered the UK market less than a year ago, the manufacturer says the seven-seat TIGGO 8 became the country’s best-selling seven-seater in June, while Chery reached a 2% UK market share in July.

Its retailer network has also expanded to more than 85 locations, with the company targeting 120 sites by the autumn.

Chery’s current UK range comprises the TIGGO 4, TIGGO 7, TIGGO 8 and TIGGO 9, with every model available with the company’s Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) plug-in hybrid technology.

The CSH powertrain is designed to provide electric-only driving for shorter everyday journeys while retaining a petrol engine for longer trips where additional range and flexibility are required.

0% finance supports hybrid range

Chery is also supporting its plug-in hybrid push with a 0% finance offer on TIGGO 7, TIGGO 8 and TIGGO 9 CSH models throughout August 2026, subject to the manufacturer’s terms and conditions.

The combination of expanded warranty protection, finance incentives and a growing retailer network underlines Chery’s determination to build on its rapid start in Britain and strengthen its appeal to buyers considering one of the growing number of new brands entering the UK car market.

Motoring Echo Verdict

Extending warranty protection is one thing; applying the improvements retrospectively to cars already sold is arguably the more significant move. Existing Chery customers receive additional protection without having to change their agreement or take any action.

For a relatively new entrant to the UK market, warranty reassurance and retailer coverage can be particularly important in building consumer confidence. With more than 85 retailers already operating and further expansion planned, Chery is putting some of the infrastructure in place to support its rapidly growing UK presence.
