MG will put its latest generation of electrified cars and technology in the spotlight at CarFest 2026, with the Cyberster electric roadster taking to the track alongside a trio of the brand’s newest models.
The MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid, MG IM6 and MGS6 EV will all feature in static displays, giving visitors a closer look at a line-up spanning electric performance, rapid-charging technology, seven-seat plug-in hybrid practicality and long-range family EVs.
The showcase is also intended to demonstrate how MG is combining more than a century of automotive heritage with its latest electric and intelligent vehicle technology.
Cyberster takes centre stage
Heading MG’s CarFest appearance will be the Cyberster, which will demonstrate its performance credentials on track.
Designed in London, the two-seat electric roadster takes inspiration from MG’s long history of producing accessible British sports cars, but packages that heritage in a distinctly modern design.
Its traditional roadster proportions include a long bonnet, low nose and sweeping bodywork, while the electric powertrain delivers considerably more performance than its predecessors could have imagined.
In its most powerful form, the Cyberster can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds, combining instant electric torque with the open-top driving experience traditionally associated with MG.
MGS9 brings seven-seat plug-in hybrid practicality
Making a very different case for MG’s electrified future is the MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid, the company’s first large seven-seat SUV.
The three-row cabin has been designed with family practicality in mind. Fold the third row and boot capacity increases to 1,026 litres.
Its plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 24.7kWh battery, providing an electric-only driving range of up to 62 miles.
Comfort and Premium trim levels are offered, with equipment including 20-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, heated seats and a panoramic roof. A 12.3-inch infotainment display is joined by a separate 12.3-inch driver display.
MG IM6 showcases performance and rapid charging
The MG IM6 will highlight another side of the company’s technology push, combining substantial performance with ultra-rapid charging capability.
Maximum output is quoted at 553kW, accompanied by 802Nm of torque. Models equipped with the largest 100kWh battery can accept charging speeds of more than 350kW, allowing a 10-80% recharge in as little as 17 minutes under suitable conditions.
MG is also placing considerable emphasis on the IM6’s chassis and safety technology. Its braking system can bring the car to a halt from 62mph in a claimed 33.8 metres, while Hydroplaning Stability Control is designed to reduce sliding or drifting in challenging conditions compared with conventional electronic stability systems.
A four-wheel steering system also helps reduce the car’s turning circle, improving manoeuvrability despite its size.
Inside, the technology-led approach continues with a 26.3-inch infotainment display, 50W wireless smartphone charging and a 20-speaker audio system. The driver receives a ventilated 12-way electrically adjustable seat with memory, while the front passenger has six-way adjustment.
MGS6 EV targets family buyers with up to 329 miles of range
Completing MG’s CarFest display will be the MGS6 EV, which uses the company’s Modular Scalable Platform – the same electric architecture underpinning the MG4 EV and MGS5 EV.
SE Long Range and Trophy Long Range versions use a single rear-mounted electric motor and offer up to 329 miles of driving range.
Buyers wanting additional performance can opt for the flagship Dual Motor Trophy, which cuts the 0-62mph time to 5.1 seconds.
Practicality is another major focus. MG says the MGS6 EV incorporates 30 storage and practicality features, while maximum luggage capacity reaches 1,910 litres with the rear seats folded.
There is additional storage beneath the bonnet, with single-motor versions offering a 124-litre ‘frunk’ and dual-motor cars providing 102 litres.
MG looks to its next chapter
MG says its CarFest presence is designed not simply to display individual new models, but to show how the marque is evolving as electrification and intelligent vehicle technologies become increasingly important.
