Škoda is marking a major milestone for its popular Karoq SUV with the introduction of a new range-topping Black Edition, launched as worldwide production of the model passes the one-million mark.
Available to order in the UK from 1 October 2026, the Karoq Black Edition becomes the most comprehensively equipped version of the SUV yet offered, building on the specification of the existing SportLine Edition with additional styling, comfort, technology and chassis upgrades.
Distinctive Black Edition Styling
As its name suggests, the new flagship adopts a darker and more distinctive appearance. Standard equipment includes 19-inch Vega black alloy wheels, black roof rails, door mirrors and radiator grille, together with sports front and rear bumpers.
The monochrome theme continues with a restricted selection of metallic paint colours, while a rear diffuser and black Škoda and Karoq tailgate lettering complete the exterior treatment.
Inside, the Black Edition receives SportLine Suite leather seats, a panoramic glass sunroof and black headlining.
An LED interior lighting package with Škoda welcome logo is also standard, along with aluminium pedals and a three-spoke heated multifunction leather sports steering wheel. DSG-equipped versions additionally feature steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles.
Comfort equipment is equally comprehensive, with heated front and rear seats and tri-zone climate control fitted as standard. A CANTON premium sound system is also included.
Matrix LED Lights and Dynamic Chassis Control
Škoda has gone beyond cosmetic upgrades for its new Karoq flagship, adding a number of technologies designed to improve both everyday usability and the driving experience.
Full LED Matrix headlights are standard and incorporate an adaptive front lighting system, cornering function and poor-weather lighting. A heated windscreen is also included.
Dynamic Chassis Control and Progressive Steering are fitted across the Black Edition range, giving drivers greater scope to tailor the Karoq’s responses while adding a more sporting character to the range-topping model.
Four Powertrain Choices
The Karoq Black Edition will be offered with four drivetrain combinations covering petrol and diesel power, manual and DSG transmissions and, on the higher-powered versions, four-wheel drive.
The range opens with the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine producing 150PS, available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed DSG automatic.
Above this sits the 2.0-litre TSI petrol producing 190PS, which comes exclusively with seven-speed DSG transmission and four-wheel drive.
Diesel buyers can choose the 2.0-litre TDI producing 150PS, also paired with DSG transmission and four-wheel drive.
All engines offered in the Karoq range come from the Volkswagen Group’s EVO engine generation, designed to combine strong performance with improved efficiency.

UK order books open on 1 October 2026, with the first customer deliveries expected before the end of the year.
One Million Karoqs and Counting
Launched in 2017, the Karoq has become an important part of Škoda’s expanding SUV line-up and has now passed one million units produced worldwide.
More than 103,000 examples have found homes in the UK since launch, while the Karoq has collected a string of British motoring awards during its lifetime, including What Car? Best Family SUV, Auto Express Used Car of the Year, Carbuyer Best Family SUV and Parkers Best Medium SUV.
Motoring Echo Verdict
The Black Edition gives the established Karoq a suitably well-equipped flagship to celebrate its one-millionth production milestone. With Matrix LED lighting, Dynamic Chassis Control, premium interior equipment and a choice of petrol, diesel and four-wheel-drive powertrains, it brings together virtually everything available in the Karoq catalogue.
At £39,160 before options for the entry Black Edition, however, it also pushes Škoda’s compact SUV firmly into premium-priced territory. Buyers will therefore need to decide whether the extensive standard equipment makes the Black Edition a compelling package against newer electrified and conventional SUV rivals.
