Kingfisher Insurance has signed a multi-year agreement with Greenlight Television to become the exclusive UK Presenting Partner of Motorsport Mundial, extending the specialist broker’s involvement across the motorsport sector.
The partnership will support the long-running international motorsport programme’s UK coverage on ITV4 and ITVX, where it brings together racing action, news and behind-the-scenes stories from two- and four-wheel competition around the world.
Nearly three decades of international motorsport
Motorsport Mundial has been covering international motorsport for almost 30 years and has developed into one of the longest-running programmes of its kind.
Greenlight Television had produced its 3,000th edition by 2012, when the programme was being broadcast in more than 160 countries. Today, the company produces 50 editions each year, maintaining year-round coverage of championships, competitors and events across international motorsport.
Kingfisher’s involvement builds on its wider activity within the sector, covering grassroots competitors, professional teams and specialist motorsport businesses.
Earlier this year, the insurance broker also launched a Master Road Section Top-Up insurance policy with Motorsport UK, adding to its range of specialist products aimed at competitors and motorsport professionals.
Kingfisher Managing Director Gareth Butler said the Motorsport Mundial agreement forms part of the company’s broader investment in motorsport and its aim to support the people and businesses involved in the sport.
Greenlight Television Director Rob Hurdman said maintaining regular television coverage provides valuable exposure for championships, competitors and supporting businesses, while introducing audiences to forms of motorsport they may not otherwise encounter.
New digital series planned
The partnership will extend beyond television, with Kingfisher and Greenlight also collaborating on a new YouTube series called Crashing is Part of the Game.
The digital series will focus on competitors, teams and businesses involved in motorsport, exploring both the passion and resilience required to compete.
It will also examine the role of specialist insurance within motorsport, providing Kingfisher with a direct link between its commercial activities and the people featured in the series.
Where to watch Motorsport Mundial
Motorsport Mundial is broadcast in the UK on ITV4 and is also available to stream through ITVX.
Motoring Echo Verdict
This is a partnership that goes beyond conventional programme sponsorship. Kingfisher gains regular visibility among a highly relevant motorsport audience, while Greenlight secures the backing of a specialist business already active within the sector.
The addition of Crashing is Part of the Game could prove particularly interesting, giving the partnership its own digital content rather than simply placing a sponsor around an established television programme.
