OMODA&JAECOO has passed 100,000 UK vehicle sales less than two years after arriving in the market, marking another significant milestone in the rapid expansion of the two Chinese-owned brands.
OMODA launched in the UK on 31 August 2024, followed by JAECOO in January 2025. Since then, the two brands have built a nationwide network of more than 144 retail locations and expanded their combined model range across petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains.
OMODA&JAECOO UK says the brands have now achieved a combined UK market share approaching 5.7 per cent, with more than 100,000 customers choosing an OMODA or JAECOO vehicle since launch.

JAECOO 7 leads rapid sales growth
At the heart of that expansion has been the JAECOO 7, which has established itself as one of the UK’s most successful recent new-car launches.
Since September 2025, the SUV has been a regular fixture among the UK’s top 10 best-selling cars. More than 53,000 examples have been registered since sales began in February 2025.
The model has attracted both private and fleet customers, although retail buyers account for 66 per cent of registrations. The flagship SHS-P plug-in hybrid has proved particularly successful, representing 75 per cent of JAECOO 7 customer orders.
OMODA’s original UK model, the OMODA 5, has also played an important role in establishing the company. More than 36,500 examples have now been sold, with retail customers accounting for 71 per cent of registrations.
The OMODA 5 is currently offered with three powertrain choices: TGDi petrol, SHS-H full hybrid and fully electric.

Six-model range established
The company’s UK portfolio has expanded considerably since the first OMODA 5 arrived.
OMODA now offers the OMODA 5, OMODA 7 and flagship OMODA 9, while the JAECOO range comprises the JAECOO 5, JAECOO 7 and recently introduced JAECOO 8.
Together, the six models give customers access to petrol, full hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric powertrains across several market segments.
Gary Lan, CEO of OMODA&JAECOO UK, said the 100,000-sales landmark reflected the investment made in establishing the two brands for the long term.
“We have never shied away from the understanding that to be successful in the UK, it would require investing heavily in our people, our retailer network, and the ownership experience, and we’ve done that since day one.
“Surpassing 100,000 vehicle sales in under two years is a significant milestone for everyone involved. It demonstrates the strength of that proposition, the dedication of our teams and partners across the country and the trust customers have placed in our products and long-term vision.”
Lan said the company would continue investing in its UK operation, with further growth planned across products, retailers and customer support.
A customer celebration day is also planned for September to mark the 100,000-sales milestone.
Building a long-term UK operation
OMODA&JAECOO’s expansion has extended well beyond introducing new vehicles.
The company has grown its UK-based team, developed its network to more than 144 locations and invested in aftersales, logistics and dedicated parts hubs.
Its ownership package has also been strengthened through extended RAC roadside assistance across Europe, complementing the company’s existing warranty programme.
The brands have simultaneously worked to build their profile outside traditional automotive marketing. Partnerships and appearances have included London Fashion Week through the British Fashion Council, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, EPCR Finals Weekend and SMMT Test Day.
The growing presence of OMODA and JAECOO has also been recognised through a series of industry awards. These include The Car Expert’s Best Family Plug-in Hybrid award for the OMODA 9, Auto Trader’s Best Value New Car award for the OMODA 5 and JAECOO being named Carwow’s Brand of the Year 2026.
Part of Chery’s global expansion
OMODA&JAECOO UK operates as part of Chery International UK, with its parent automotive group recently passing 20 million global vehicle sales.
The UK operation has also become increasingly involved in the wider automotive industry, with senior executives participating in events including the Financial Times Future of the Car Summit and the SMMT International Automotive Summit.
Further vehicle launches, expansion of the retailer network and new customer initiatives are planned through the remainder of 2026 and beyond.

Motoring Echo Verdict
Reaching 100,000 sales in less than two years illustrates how quickly OMODA and JAECOO have moved from unfamiliar newcomers to significant players in the UK new-car market, a development that is hard to ignore and impressive regardless of any advantages Chinese manufacturers may have.
The JAECOO 7 has been the standout performer, but the broader story is the speed at which the company has established the infrastructure needed to support its growth. A network exceeding 144 locations, an expanding six-model range and investment in parts, aftersales and customer support suggest the focus extends beyond achieving headline registration figures.
The challenge now shifts from breaking into the UK market to maintaining that momentum. With more models and further network expansion promised, OMODA&JAECOO’s next 100,000 UK sales could provide an even clearer indication of its long-term position in one of Europe’s most competitive automotive markets.
