Honda will bring a new Prelude Limited Edition to Europe this autumn, giving its revived hybrid coupé an exclusive colour scheme and upgraded interior treatment for Model Year 2027.

The special edition follows the model’s debut in Japan and is distinguished by a new Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic exterior finish, combined with red detailing on the front and rear bumpers.

The colour scheme is completed by red Brembo brake calipers and 19-inch black-cut alloy wheels, giving the Limited Edition a more distinctive appearance than the standard Prelude.

Bordeaux interior treatment

Honda has carried the red theme into the cabin with a new Bordeaux interior, complemented by contrast red stitching across the steering wheel, centre console and dashboard.

The detailing continues onto the front seats and door trim, while dedicated floor mats feature further red accents.

Each Limited Edition also receives a Prelude logo embroidered into the dashboard, intended to resemble a hand-written signature and provide an additional point of distinction for the limited-run model.

Familiar hybrid powertrain underneath

The changes are focused on design rather than performance, with the Limited Edition retaining the Prelude’s existing e hybrid powertrain and Honda S+ Shift system.

S+ Shift is designed to give the electrified powertrain a more engaging character by recreating some of the sensations associated with changing gears, despite the hybrid transmission not using a conventional stepped gearbox.

Honda says the philosophy behind the latest Prelude is less about creating an uncompromising sports car and more about combining performance with smoothness and freedom of movement.

Prelude Large Project Leader Tomoyuki Yamagami likens that character to a glider rather than a fighter jet — an idea that has influenced the development of the latest generation.

The Prelude name dates back almost 50 years and has traditionally been used by Honda to showcase new technology within a sporting coupé format. The latest generation continues that approach with an electrified powertrain rather than pursuing outright performance.

The Honda Prelude Limited Edition is scheduled to arrive in Europe from autumn 2026 as a Model Year 2027 vehicle.

Motoring Echo Verdict

The Prelude Limited Edition doesn’t rewrite Honda’s new hybrid coupé — and that’s really the point. There is no extra power or major chassis overhaul here; instead, Honda has concentrated on making an already distinctive car feel more special.

Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic, Bordeaux trim and the red detailing should give the Prelude considerably more visual presence, while retaining the same hybrid technology underneath.

For buyers attracted to the Prelude because it offers something different from the increasingly familiar SUV formula, the Limited Edition adds another layer of individuality. The deciding factors will be how limited it actually is — and how much Honda asks for that exclusivity.
