Less than a year after entering the UK market, Chery has reached a significant milestone by securing a record 2% share of the UK’s new car market during July, registering 3,212 new vehicles.
The achievement underlines the rapid pace at which the Chinese manufacturer has established itself in Britain, with demand being led by its expanding range of electrified SUVs and value-focused pricing strategy.
Electrified Range Powers Growth
More than 70% of Chery’s July registrations came from electrified models, highlighting growing customer demand for the brand’s Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology.
The plug-in hybrid system is designed to deliver the benefits of electric driving for everyday commuting while retaining the reassurance of an efficient petrol engine for longer journeys, removing many of the concerns associated with charging infrastructure.
Leading the charge was the TIGGO 8 CSH, which comfortably became Chery’s best-selling model in July with 1,117 registrations.
Designed as a practical seven-seat family SUV, the TIGGO 8 CSH offers an electric-only driving range of up to 56 miles while producing CO₂ emissions from just 31g/km (WLTP), making it an attractive proposition for buyers seeking lower running costs without sacrificing practicality.

Strong Foundation from Global Success
Commenting on the landmark month, Farrell Hsu, Managing Director at Chery UK, said reaching a 2% market share in under a year demonstrates how quickly UK buyers have responded to the brand’s combination of quality, technology and affordability.
He added that Chery’s rapid UK progress is backed by the wider strength of the Chery Group, which ranked among the world’s top 10 automotive groups during the first half of the year and became the first Chinese car manufacturer to surpass 20 million global vehicle sales.
According to Hsu, that global scale enables Chery to equip its vehicles with high levels of technology and standard equipment while maintaining competitive pricing.
International Momentum Continues
The UK performance mirrors Chery’s accelerating international expansion.
During July, the Chery Group achieved a record 202,533 overseas deliveries, becoming the first Chinese automotive manufacturer to export more than 200,000 vehicles in a single month.
Between January and July, international deliveries totalled 1.146 million vehicles, representing a 71.2% year-on-year increase. At that pace, a Chery-built vehicle enters the global market approximately every 16 seconds.
Warranty and Finance Offers Add Appeal
Every Chery model sold in the UK is covered by a seven-year vehicle warranty, while CSH plug-in hybrid models also receive an eight-year hybrid battery warranty, providing additional reassurance for customers making the switch to electrified motoring.
To strengthen its appeal further, Chery is currently offering 0% APR finance across the TIGGO 7 CSH, TIGGO 8 CSH and TIGGO 9 CSH models until 31 August, making the brand’s growing SUV range even more accessible.

Motoring Echo Verdict
Chery’s latest registration figures demonstrate that the brand is quickly becoming a genuine challenger in the UK’s increasingly competitive SUV market. Strong value for money, generous standard equipment and a growing line-up of electrified models are clearly resonating with buyers. If this momentum continues, Chery looks well placed to strengthen its position further as more motorists consider affordable hybrid alternatives to established European, Japanese and Korean rivals.
