For the fortunate few who will own an Aston Martin Valhalla, the opportunity to personalise their supercar now extends beyond the garage and onto the wrist.
Aston Martin and Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling have introduced an exclusive bespoke watch programme, allowing Valhalla owners to commission a Super Chronomat timepiece inspired by their individual car.
It is a partnership that brings together two worlds where engineering, precision and design have long been fundamental to the finished product.
With production of the Valhalla limited to just 999 examples worldwide, the opportunity to own a matching Breitling adds another dimension to what is already one of Aston Martin’s most exclusive creations.
From British Supercar to Swiss Watchmaking
The Aston Martin Valhalla represents a significant milestone for the British manufacturer. As its first series-production mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar, it combines Formula 1-derived technology with a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and three electric motors.
Together, they produce an extraordinary 1,079PS, allowing the car to accelerate from 0–62mph in just 2.5 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 217mph.
But beyond the performance figures, Valhalla is also about individuality. Owners have considerable scope to personalise their cars, and the new Breitling programme takes that philosophy into luxury watchmaking.
For the first time, Breitling is opening the design process of its Super Chronomat collection exclusively to Aston Martin Valhalla customers. Using a dedicated configurator, owners can select details that complement their car’s specification or reflect their personal preferences.
Two Breitling Super Chronomat Models
Two distinctive timepieces are available, each offering a different interpretation of the partnership.
Super Chronomat B19 44 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph
For those who appreciate the mechanical complexity behind exceptional engineering, the Super Chronomat B19 is arguably the more remarkable of the two watches.
Housed in a 44mm titanium case, it features a carbon-fibre dial, Breitling’s distinctive Rouleaux bracelet and an automatic perpetual calendar chronograph movement.
Its perpetual calendar accounts for different month lengths and leap years, with no manual calendar correction required until 2100, assuming the watch remains correctly set and running.
A 96-hour power reserve means the watch can continue operating for up to four days without being worn or wound.
A transparent caseback reveals the movement and black rotor, while owners can personalise the rehaut — the inner ring surrounding the dial — the seconds hand, chronograph counter hand and rotor engraving.
The result is a highly technical timepiece that shares something of the Valhalla’s fascination with advanced engineering.
Super Chronomat Automatic 38
The second option offers a more understated interpretation of the same concept.
The Super Chronomat Automatic 38 features a 38mm stainless-steel case, carbon-fibre dial and diamond-set bezel, combining technical materials with a more jewellery-inspired finish.
Its automatic three-hand movement includes a date display positioned at six o’clock. A titanium crown and Breitling’s Rouleaux bracelet complete the design.
Owners can personalise the rehaut and hand colours, with the opportunity to add individual engraving to the caseback.
Although different in character from the larger B19, the Automatic 38 offers the same connection between the owner’s Aston Martin and their chosen timepiece.
Precision Engineering and Personalisation
For Aston Martin and Breitling, the collaboration is about more than placing two prestigious names on a luxury accessory. It is an opportunity to bring the owner’s personal specification into another carefully engineered product.
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, describes the initiative as an opportunity for owners to create a timepiece that becomes a personal extension of their Valhalla.
The programme is exclusively available to Valhalla owners, rather than being offered as a conventional limited-edition watch to the wider public.
Two Centres of Engineering Excellence
There is also a geographical connection between the two luxury brands.
Aston Martin builds the Valhalla at its headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, while Breitling produces its Super Chronomat watches at its Chronometrie in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
Both locations have strong associations with precision engineering, specialist craftsmanship and products intended to deliver considerably more than everyday functionality.
More Than a Watch
Luxury automotive partnerships are nothing new, but the distinction here is the degree of personalisation.
Rather than simply placing an Aston Martin emblem on an existing Breitling model, the programme allows customers to influence selected elements of the finished watch.
That connection to the owner’s actual vehicle is what makes the concept particularly interesting.
For some, the attraction will be the craftsmanship and mechanical sophistication of the watch itself. For others, it will be the opportunity to own something that complements one of the world’s most exclusive Aston Martins.
Either way, it is a reminder that luxury motoring is increasingly about the complete ownership experience.
ME Verdict
A fitting partnership between two names associated with performance, precision and craftsmanship.
There is something appealing about the idea of a watch designed to reflect the specification of a very special car.
The Valhalla is already an extraordinary piece of British automotive engineering, and Breitling’s Super Chronomat collection provides a suitably sophisticated companion.
The fact that owners can influence the finished design makes this more interesting than the usual branded luxury accessory.
Of course, with only 999 Valhallas being produced, this is an experience reserved for a very small audience.
But as an example of how automotive design and luxury lifestyle products can come together, it is an imaginative and rather elegant collaboration.
