Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo Gains More Range, More Power and New Vehicle-to-Load Technology

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has strengthened the appeal of its all-electric ID. Buzz Cargo with the introduction of a new 58kWh battery model, delivering increased driving range, higher power output and enhanced functionality while significantly reducing the entry price.

Replacing the outgoing 59kWh battery version, the new 58kWh model benefits from improved battery cell efficiency, enabling it to travel up to 218 miles on a single charge – an increase of 17 miles over its predecessor. At the same time, power rises from 170PS to 190PS, offering improved performance for business users covering longer daily routes.

The revised model also represents a notable reduction in purchase costs. Prices now start from £29,995 (excluding VAT), making the latest ID. Buzz Cargo £5,655 (excluding VAT) more affordable than the outgoing version.

Further value comes through the Government’s Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG), with every ID. Buzz Cargo 58kWh qualifying for an additional £5,000 saving, making Volkswagen’s distinctive electric van even more accessible for businesses looking to reduce operating costs and emissions.

Vehicle-to-Load Technology Boosts Everyday Practicality

Alongside the battery upgrade, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has introduced Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology across the entire ID. Buzz Cargo range.

The system provides a continuous 2.0kW power supply, with a peak output of 3.6kW (16A at 240V), allowing owners to run external electrical equipment directly from the vehicle. A conveniently positioned three-pin socket within the rear load area enables easy access from both the rear tailgate and sliding side doors.

For tradespeople and mobile businesses, this means tools, lighting, laptops, charging equipment or even appliances such as kettles can be powered without the need for separate generators or portable batteries.

Latest Software Brings Smarter Connected Features

Volkswagen has also upgraded the ID. Buzz Cargo’s infotainment system with the latest ID. Software 6.0.

The update introduces an integrated app store, allowing drivers to download additional streaming, parking and charging applications directly through the vehicle’s infotainment system.

New Connected Travel Assist functionality also expands the vehicle’s driver assistance capabilities by using enhanced online data. One of the latest features enables the system to detect traffic lights and automatically bring the vehicle to a controlled stop when a red signal is identified, adding another layer of convenience during urban driving.

Competitive Business Finance Available

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is supporting the updated model with attractive finance offers.

A representative two-year, 5,000-mile-per-year non-maintained Contract Hire agreement starts from £239 per month, with:

  • 23 monthly rentals: £239
  • Initial rental: £2,151
  • Government Plug-in Van Grant: £5,000

The competitive pricing further strengthens the ID. Buzz Cargo’s position as an attractive option for businesses transitioning to electric fleets.
