Alpine will unveil a one-off A390 at the Goodwood Revival this weekend, transformed by London-based creative director and artist Trevor Jackson into a unique automotive art project.

The specially commissioned A390 will make its public debut at the Goodwood Motor Circuit from 18-20 September, bringing a distinctly contemporary element to an event traditionally centred around historic motorsport.

Jackson has created a bespoke exterior treatment for Alpine’s new five-seat electric sport fastback, working alongside Alpine Design Director Antony Villain and the manufacturer’s design team.

Rather than treating the bodywork simply as a surface for decoration, Jackson says the project explores the relationship between movement, form and visual abstraction.

Alpine A390 becomes a canvas

The one-off treatment gives the A390 an identity distinct from the production model while retaining the underlying shape and proportions of the car.

Alpine describes the finished design as an abstract exploration of form, function, performance and style, intended to connect elements of the company’s heritage with its current direction.

The A390 represents a significant expansion of Alpine’s range. The all-electric five-seater moves the brand beyond the compact sports-car territory traditionally associated with the A110 while maintaining an emphasis on performance and driver involvement.

Jackson said: “What excited me most about this project was the opportunity to graphically explore the relationship between movement and visual abstraction, an approach that responds to the car itself rather than being simply decorative.

“The A390 has a strong identity of its own, so the main challenge was finding a balance where the car’s unique personality and my own could sit harmoniously together without compromise.”

Trevor Jackson brings three decades of creative experience

Jackson has worked across art, music, fashion, design and moving image during a career spanning more than 30 years.

His work has included projects with international brands alongside independent artists and cultural organisations, with that cross-disciplinary approach forming the basis of the A390 commission.

Alpine Design Director Antony Villain said: “Trevor has a rare ability to move freely between disciplines while retaining a very clear point of view, and that made him a natural person to invite into the Alpine design process.

“The A390’s strong and distinctive form invited a new layer of expression around it while respecting the character of the car. The result brings a fresh cultural perspective to Alpine design.”

Alpine brings four-car display to Goodwood

The one-off A390 will form part of a four-car Alpine display at the 2026 Goodwood Revival.

The production A390 made its Revival debut in 2025, but this year’s display will place Jackson’s interpretation alongside three cars representing different elements of Alpine’s competition and performance history.

Among them will be the striking Beware of the Crocodile – Alpine Lacoste A290 Rallye, a collaboration between Alpine and Lacoste based on Alpine Racing’s first fully electric customer competition car.

Its exterior incorporates 290 Lacoste crocodile motifs, while underneath sits a competition-developed A290 Rallye producing 220 hp and equipped with a ZF limited-slip differential and rally-specific suspension.

A110 past and present

An original A110 Berlinette in rally specification will represent the lightweight sports car that helped establish Alpine on the international rallying scene.

The Berlinette played a central role in Alpine securing the inaugural World Rally Championship for Manufacturers in 1973.

It will be joined by the current-generation A110, connecting the original car’s lightweight philosophy with Alpine’s modern interpretation.

Production of the current A110 generation ended at Alpine’s Dieppe factory in July 2026, although a limited number remain available through the company’s UK retail network.

Nicola Burnside, Alpine UK Brand Director, said: “Goodwood Revival is the perfect place to show this first art car. Revival is famous for theatre, heritage and imagination, all of which are key to Trevor’s design of this unique project.

“Trevor’s interpretation of A390 gives us a completely new way to present the car, while the Berlinette, A110 and Alpine Lacoste A290 Rallye tell the wider Alpine story around it.”

The 2026 Goodwood Revival takes place at Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September.
