Nissan is giving electric vehicle buyers even greater peace of mind with the launch of a new Service Activated Warranty programme, offering eligible Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) owners the opportunity to extend manufacturer-backed warranty protection for up to six years or 100,000 miles.

Available from 1 July, the initiative rewards customers who continue to service their vehicles within Nissan’s authorised retailer network, reinforcing the manufacturer’s long-term confidence in its growing electric vehicle range.

The new programme applies to the All-New Nissan MICRA (including vehicles already sold since launch), the All-New Nissan LEAF, arriving in UK showrooms this summer, and the 2026 model year Nissan ARIYA. Nissan has also confirmed that all future all-electric passenger models will be included.

Extended Protection for Electric Vehicle Owners

Under the scheme, every eligible Nissan EV continues to receive the standard three-year/60,000-mile manufacturer warranty. Once this expires, owners can activate an additional 12 months of warranty cover each time they complete an eligible scheduled service at an authorised Nissan retailer.

By maintaining the recommended servicing schedule, customers can continue extending their warranty annually until the vehicle reaches six years old or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The programme is designed to enhance customer confidence while encouraging servicing by manufacturer-trained technicians using genuine Nissan parts.

Nicolas Belaud, Aftersales Director, Nissan GB, said:

“We are hugely excited about our new Service Activated Warranty proposition, which we are sure will appeal to customers interested in purchasing one of our award-winning all-electric cars.

“Nissan has more than 15 years of experience looking after EVs in the UK, more than any other manufacturer, and the service activated warranty highlights our confidence in our electric vehicles and offers even more customer benefit in bringing a car to the experts for servicing.

“For a Nissan owner, taking their car to a Nissan dealership for routine servicing is a no-brainer. With state-of-the-art facilities, access to genuine manufacturer parts and fully qualified Nissan technicians, owners can rest assured that their cars are in the best possible hands with us.”

Available on New and Used Nissan EVs

The Service Activated Warranty isn’t limited to new vehicles.

Owners of used All-New MICRA, All-New LEAF and 2026 model year ARIYA models can also qualify, provided servicing is carried out according to Nissan’s maintenance schedule within the authorised retailer network.

Where a vehicle has previously been serviced outside the Nissan network, owners may still become eligible if the car has a complete service history. Vehicles without a full service record may require an additional inspection before warranty cover can be activated.

How the Service Activated Warranty Works

To maintain continuous warranty protection, customers should:

  • Follow Nissan’s recommended servicing schedule.
  • Ensure the final service before the standard manufacturer warranty expires is completed within the Nissan retailer network.
  • Continue having scheduled servicing carried out by a Nissan Dealership or Authorised Repairer each year thereafter.
  • Maintain eligibility until the vehicle reaches six years old or 100,000 miles.

If servicing has taken place outside the Nissan network, eligibility may still be restored following a qualifying Nissan service and, where required, a vehicle inspection.

Separate Battery Warranty Remains Unchanged

The new Service Activated Warranty complements, rather than replaces, Nissan’s existing Lithium-Ion Battery Warranty.

Battery coverage continues independently for up to eight years or 100,000 miles, providing reassurance over long-term battery performance while the new scheme extends protection for the rest of the vehicle.

Added Value Alongside the Electric Car Grant

Nissan also highlights that its current electric vehicle range qualifies for the Government’s Electric Car Grant, adding further value for customers considering the switch to electric motoring.

Combined with the new Service Activated Warranty, the manufacturer believes the package strengthens the appeal of its latest EV line-up by reducing ownership costs and increasing long-term confidence.

Motoring Echo Takeaway

Nissan’s Service Activated Warranty introduces an attractive ownership incentive by rewarding customers who maintain their electric vehicles within the manufacturer’s servicing network. Extending warranty protection to both new and eligible used EVs helps reduce long-term ownership concerns while reinforcing Nissan’s confidence in the durability and reliability of its latest electric models.

Motoring Echo Top Tips – Getting the Most from Nissan’s Service Activated Warranty

Keep to the service schedule – Missing scheduled maintenance could interrupt your warranty eligibility.

Use authorised Nissan retailers – Annual servicing within the Nissan network is essential to activate each additional year of cover.

Don’t worry if you’ve used an independent garage – A full service history may still allow you to rejoin the programme after a qualifying Nissan service.

Remember the battery is covered separately – The lithium-ion battery warranty remains in place for up to eight years or 100,000 miles.

Check eligibility when buying used – Approved servicing history could mean a pre-owned Nissan EV still benefits from valuable manufacturer-backed warranty protection.
