Changan UK has named Ohme as its preferred home EV charging partner, giving customers access to a charger and installation service through the carmaker’s growing UK retail network.
The partnership is designed to simplify the move to an electrified vehicle by allowing Changan customers to arrange their home charging solution alongside the purchase of their car.
Ohme chargers will be displayed at Changan retailers, while the charging specialist will provide installation services, dealer training and ongoing support. The two companies also plan to explore future charging technologies, including vehicle-to-grid (V2G).
The agreement follows Changan’s introduction of the Deepal S05 and S07 in the UK, with further electrified models, including the S05 Ultra plug-in hybrid, set to expand the range.

Smart charging aims to cut home EV costs
Ohme’s smart chargers use live information from the electricity grid and can automatically adjust charging schedules to take advantage of lower-cost periods on compatible tariffs.
The chargers also feature a solar boost function, allowing drivers with suitable domestic solar installations to increase their use of locally generated electricity and reduce reliance on the grid.
According to Ohme, fully charging the Changan Deepal S05’s 68.8kWh battery could cost around £5.50 when using a compatible dynamic tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go. The S05 has an official WLTP range of up to 303 miles.
Drivers can also configure an Ohme charger to prioritise periods when renewable electricity generation on the national grid is higher.

Ohme is also the official home charging provider for Motability Operations and supplies charging solutions through a number of automotive manufacturers and retailers.
The Changan partnership comes as the Chinese manufacturer continues to expand its UK dealer network and electrified model line-up following the arrival of the Deepal brand.
