Bentley to take centre stage at Monterey

Bentley isn't abandoning tradition at Monterey — it is finding new ways for people to enjoy it.

Bentley is broadening its presence at Monterey Car Week with the launch of Stazione Remota, a new annual gathering created in partnership with automotive culture hub Race Service, Tutto Bene and Milan design studio BorromeodeSilva.

The inaugural invite-only event takes place in Carmel Valley this Saturday and represents a slightly different direction for the British luxury marque. Rather than concentrating solely on concours lawns and traditional displays, Stazione Remota is designed around the wider culture surrounding cars — bringing enthusiasts together through design, music, coffee and conversation.

It is also another indication of Bentley’s determination to connect its formidable heritage with a new generation of enthusiasts.

From Bentayga X to a pink mobile espresso bar

Bentley is bringing an eclectic collection of machinery to the first Stazione Remota, headed by the Bentayga X concept, which provides a tantalising glimpse at what a more seriously off-road-focused Bentley could become.

Sitting alongside it will be something altogether less conventional.

Known as “Joe’s Bentayga”, the second SUV is finished in a striking combination of pink and dark green and incorporates a fully operational Joe & The Juice espresso bar in its luggage compartment.

The contrast between the two Bentaygas neatly illustrates what Bentley appears to be trying to achieve with Stazione Remota: celebrating the motor car without taking the traditional car-event formula too seriously.

There will be considerably more serious performance machinery on show, however.

Supersports brings old and new together

The new Bentley Supersports, positioned as the driver-focused pinnacle of the Continental range, will make an appearance wearing its dramatic ‘Dragon’ livery.

Finished in Black Crystal and Dragon Red II, the colours transition across the width of the car to create one of the most distinctive interpretations yet of the latest Supersports.

But alongside Bentley’s newest performance flagship will sit a car representing almost a century of Supersports history.

A 1926 Bentley affectionately known as ‘Smoky’ is making its first visit to the United States in its 100-year history.

One of the original 18 cars from the 1920s, Smoky was extensively modified for competition in 1934. Its original 3.0-litre engine was replaced by a more powerful 4½-litre unit, while the chassis was lowered and the body streamlined for racing.

Legendary driver Kit Baker-Carr subsequently raced the Bentley 40 times during the 1930s.

The car is currently on loan to Bentley Motors from its private owner and its appearance alongside the latest Supersports creates an unusually direct link between two very different eras of Bentley performance.

Cars, coffee and vinyl

Stazione Remota will not simply be a static display.

A fleet of current Bentleys, including models from the Continental GT and Bentayga ranges, will be available for test drives, while the recently updated Flying Spur will arrive fresh from its appearance at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering the previous day.

Bentley will also create a dedicated listening room, with a live DJ hosting a vinyl lounge for guests — continuing the company’s longstanding association with music.

For Bentley Marketing Director Ben Whattam, the partnership is part of a wider effort to make the marque more approachable while retaining the character that has defined it for more than a century.

“As Bentley continues to evolve its role in the world of car culture, we’re delighted to join with Tutto Bene and to start our collaboration with a wholly new event in Monterey.

“Combining cars – and not just Bentleys – with friends old and new, outstanding coffee and new conversations is one of the ways we continue to make Bentley more relevant and more accessible.”

That emphasis on inclusivity is central to the Tutto Bene philosophy.

Carlo Borromeo of BorromeodeSilva describes its approach through the motto “Slow Down to Go Fast”, combining Californian and Italian influences with a more relaxed interpretation of the traditional automotive gathering.

He said the project had been created to make car culture relevant to a younger generation, while celebrating a shared enthusiasm for everything automotive.

Bentley’s combination of more than a century of engineering, design and competition history, he added, made the marque a natural partner for the project.

The relationship will continue beyond Monterey Car Week, with details of the next Bentley and Tutto Bene collaboration due to be announced next week.

Bentley goes big at Monterey Car Week

Stazione Remota forms just one part of an extensive Bentley programme during 2026 Monterey Car Week, with eight separate events and activations planned across the Monterey Peninsula.

At the centre of proceedings will once again be the Home of Bentley, situated around 250 yards from The Lodge at Pebble Beach.

The venue will showcase the materials, craftsmanship and design philosophy behind the marque alongside selected luxury partners.

Bentley’s 1919 Collection, which made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month, will also be available to buy for the second and final time.

Joe’s Bentayga will continue its somewhat unusual duties there, serving espresso, while Bentley customers will be able to meet designers in a dedicated commissioning area. A changing display of current Bentley models and special cars outside the venue will also be open for visitors to enjoy.

Four-car showcase at The Quail

Bentley will return to The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering for the 23rd time, with its terrace once again providing a base for customers, media and VIP guests.

Four models will headline Bentley’s display: the Supersports, Flying Spur S, Continental GTC S and Bentayga Artenara.

Before the main event, Bentley will also take part in the more intimate Quail Rally.

Friday evening brings another established Monterey tradition with Bentley’s Beach Dinner, combining a three-course meal with live acoustic music on the Californian shoreline.

At the same time, the Dragon-liveried Supersports will head into downtown Seaside for what Bentley describes as a special appearance at an unexpected location.

Following Stazione Remota on Saturday, attention switches to Bentley’s annual Signature Party at the Beach & Tennis Club at Pebble Beach.

The evening will be hosted by Bentley Chairman and CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser and Bentley Americas President and CEO Mike Rocco.

Pebble Beach provides the finale

Monterey Car Week concludes on Sunday with the 75th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where Bentley will once again occupy a prominent position beside the judging ramp with its takeover of The Bench restaurant.

Walliser and Bentley Board Member for Sales & Marketing Christophe Georges will serve as Honorary Judges at the Concours.

Bentley’s programme will then conclude with an exclusive Farewell Toast for guests at the Home of Bentley.

Motoring Echo Top Tips

  • Watch the Bentayga X: Although currently a concept, it provides an intriguing indication of how Bentley could explore a more adventurous, off-road side of the Bentayga in future.
  • Don’t overlook Smoky: The 1926 competition Bentley is arguably one of the most significant cars in the Monterey display, particularly as this is its first visit to the US in a century.
  • Supersports spans the generations: Seeing the new Dragon-liveried model alongside a 1920s ancestor neatly demonstrates how Bentley is using its heritage without allowing itself to become defined by it.
  • Stazione Remota is worth watching: The relaxed mixture of cars, music, design, coffee and culture could point towards a new style of automotive event aimed at bringing younger enthusiasts into the fold.

Motoring Echo Verdict

Bentley’s Monterey programme is about considerably more than displaying expensive cars on immaculate lawns.

Stazione Remota is perhaps the most interesting part of the strategy because it takes Bentley into a less formal corner of contemporary car culture. Putting a 100-year-old racing Bentley beside a radical new Supersports, an off-road concept and even a pink mobile coffee shop is certainly not the conventional Bentley playbook.

And that is rather the point.

Bentley has an extraordinary history, but the challenge for any marque with more than a century behind it is making that history relevant to the next generation rather than simply preserving it.

Stazione Remota suggests Bentley understands the distinction. Monterey provides the heritage and exclusivity the marque knows exceptionally well; Tutto Bene adds something younger, more relaxed and culturally driven.

Motoring Echo rating: ★★★★☆

ME Verdict: Bentley isn’t abandoning tradition at Monterey — it is finding new ways for people to enjoy it.
